Alice Pleasance Liddell
A boat, beneath a sunny sky
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July-
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear-
Long has paled that sunny sky;
Echoes fade and memories die;
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise.
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream-
Lingering in the golden gleam-
Life, what is it but a dream?
The first letter of every line spells out the name of the girl Charles Dodgson- or Lewis Carroll, based Alice in Wonderland on! I came across a 17-year-old copy of Nat Geo with an article on Lewis Carroll and wow he for a dull math lecturer at Oxford, he certainly is quite a master at storytelling and enthralling children and writing two of my favourite books ever!
Anyway, today I was at the IDP fair and it was really informative. I think I more or less know what I'm going to do now I'm just not sure if I should go for the July intake or take a gap year. Either way my 6 months/ 1 year will be a busy one because of internships and volunteer work I plan to do hopefully both at the vet and the SPCA. Plus I think I should work, maybe I'll help my germ of a cousin with her events organisation if she PAYS ME GOOD MONEY because I'm bossed around by her enough every fortnight, imagine every day!! Haha but I guess it'd be a good fun experience so I wouldn't mind I guess. Anyway I've the Supreme Dictator of the Known Universe behind me, aka my mom, who reigns supreme over her side of the family so things shouldn't get too out of hand :)
Oh and today has been bloody unproductive lah. This afternoon I literally keeled over with exhaustion (dunno why also) and proceeded to sleep through my mom hollering at me to bring the dog up to play with her mates and the dog stampeding around the house in her usual state of madness so now I'm pretty awake and attempting to understand eukaryotes and prokaryotes. So! Bloody! Boring!!! Okay I'm going to either sleep or do some smaller easier-to-understand Bio chapter now. Just finished talking to May who seems to be doing a-okay in Perth!! :D At the moment I'm pretty excited about going, but when I think of Truffles I wanna burst into tears.
