So a couple of major events in my holiday have ended!! Namely the hongkong trip and prom, and obviously the hong kong trip was like way more fun and everything lah and i had such an enjoyable time!!
There were only 8 tennis girls so it was good that there were so few of us, easier to get around and to keep track of everyone. Haha like whenever Mr Tan would go "okay head count" all the tennis girls would yell "EIGHT!!!" Hahaha which we found pretty amusing.
So we arrived in HK around lunchtime and believe it or not, had no lunch and went straight to the soccer field because the soccer girls had a match before ours started! We were so disappointed because it was totally not cold at all so we were sitting under the sun nearly sweating. Bah. But on the plus side, we did get to watch the match (the hk team all like man sial) and take lovely photos :
D
We watched till about half time, got changed and then they sent us down to the HK tennis association where we played short matches, best of 6 games! It was actually really fun because by then the weather was cool and windy and we didn't sweat at all :D Played against both boys and girls (actually both my matches were against guys) and Yanni and I couldn't figure out if one of our opponents spoke with an American accent or a HK accent but he was super black faced when we won, hoho. Then I went over to the next court to partner Sarah and THERE HE WAS AGAIN I was like oh man. And he partnered this small lil guy who was so annoying and act cool!!! And we lost haha but oh well it was good fun still.
After that we went for dinner!! Yum. I think the food this trip was pretty good it wasn't second rate or anything, but there were some food that didn't really appeal to us (ie chicken feet) and our guide cheong tjong hung was being rather annoying and telling us in an extremely condescending and patronizing way about how we don't know how to eat such food and that was the start of our being constantly annoyed with him... grrr ^%&*()((%# cheong tjong hung.
They sent us back to Tai Tong Chalet and we were wowed by how clean the rooms were and how big it was and what nice beds we had! :D The only thing that wasn't good was that 8 of us had to share a single toilet and everyone'd wait up for the rest to finish bathing so we always got to sleep rather late but we amused ourselves by watching House and other shows on the telly. And reading magazines. And packing our bags. (especially trying to fit in all our shopping stuff) The next morning we had conditioning in the morning and omg I tellya I am so unfit. But okay it was only in the morning that we got to appreciate how lovely the chalet was being up in the mountains, it was quite cold in the morning but nothing we couldn't take lah.
Breakfast at the chalet then it was off to the town! First we went to Soho which is basically a whole long line of escalators going uphill. The shops around the area were really quaint, mostly like little eateries serving western food and bars and stuff. Haha oh and yeah when we were setting off I suppose we were dressed pretty nicely and the soccer girls and teachers looked at us like we were crazy!!! Haha.
We had a really nice lunch at one of those small little HK eateries! Is it just me or is it always really chaotic in such places -.- But ah well the food was excellent.
After that, we took an MTR to FESTIVAL WALK!! Omg, that place was absolute heaven. There was H&M (which we spent like one and a half hours in or something) and it was chock full of other brands like Vivienne westwood and marc jacobs and diesel and so on :D It was the shop till you go dizzy thing. I'm really happy cos I managed to get a really thick winter coat for Paris for like half the price of what I'd have to pay in Singapore if i were to get one from Zara or something. I LOVE H & M :D :D :D Anyway, we got back to the MTR laden with shopping bags and very happy and satisfied! The bus brought us back to the chalet for us to have our barbecue but before that here's a picture of us and our shopping bags...
Anyway after changing out we had our barbecue! It was really fun just sitting around the fire cooking food with Shao Fang incessantly announcing how professional she was at barbecuing and Rach Lim burning everything she touched HAHA in the end SF was delegated the task of spreading honey onto the almost cooked food so every so often you'd hear someone go HONEYYYY and Shaofang would scurry over. Heh.

So after that we had dinner (both barbecued and food prepared by the kitchens) and we couldn't finish our bbq-ed food so we played seven up! We played that a lot actually. Even in restaurants. Rach lim got to eat the giant pork chop hahaha.
Oh and after that we went k-boxing! It was really fun singing along to all the ridiculously old pop songs and well, the newer ones. Who doesn't love Toxic? :D
And after that we retired to bed for a good night's rest. Come to think of it ah, our second day was immensely packed. I swear shopping makes a person ten times more tired that tennis/conditioning...
On the third day, we went up to the peak! It was quite interesting lah but I've been there before (actually I think most people who've been to HK have) but it was quite fun exploring the shopping centres right at the top and eating longan and red date icecream (mmm) and spending way too much time at the souvenir shops.
After that we went to HK uni for our next friendly match! :D It was DAMNNNN COLD and I forgot to bring my jacket so I was freezing on court, but it got better. And I dunno where I heard someone say that the HKU team was not too bad, a little better than the tennis association team. Not only were they not bad, they were VERY GOOD and they also happened to be the National Youth team or something so we were like !!!! and obviously, were annihilated by them very quickly, haha. But they were all really really nice and friendly and then things got a lot more fun when each of us paired up with one of them to play against another pair (that evened things out a bit more).
Shaofang and Yanni very jealous about this photo HAHAHA
Anyway we had a lot of fun there (we also got a HKU tee and a prince tee from the tennis association, yay!) and by the time we got back to the chalet it was really late. By the time we got to sleep, it was much much later...
Anyway the following morning, we played a bit of tennis before breakfast! The weather was FANTASTIC of course and the sky was so blue and clear, the air was so cool and we didn't sweat one bit :D Had breakfast and after that Sarah Yanni Shaofang and I decided to explore the chalet while the juniors stayed in the room. Played a bit of badminton and air hockey and the soccer girls borrowed our rackets to play tennis, it was really fun and only then we really saw how REALLY lovely the whole place was :D There were a lot of schoolkids there who stole our playground grr. But otherwise it was a really nice walk and hmm I don't quite recall but i think it was also the day we went to buy lotsalotsa cotton candy and popcorn to pig out on, I love the cotton candy! We were so amazed by it because it stayed fluffy and dry the whole time unlike in Singapore when after a few minutes it starts to get sticky. It was so so good oh gosh I feel like having one now...
After that we went on our nature walk!! I THINK. Okay actually I don't recall going on the nature trek after exploring the compound but I don't think we did that on the 5th day since we did nothing but shop on the 5th day so it must've been after exploring, haha. My memory is so bad.
We also went to see cows (SO CUTE AAAHHHH) and apparently there are horses and ostriches and all that but we didn't have time to see those. My momma was also telling me since we are staying in the mountainous regions confirm have cemetaries and true enough we passed by several tombs... O.O But they were not too near our chalet lah so okay.
Anyway after the trek we checked out of the chalet :( and moved to the hotel ibis at North Point, a bit more accessible since we were right next to the MTR station. The rooms were tiny but clean and I roomed with Yanneh and we even had a tiny TV showing the most boring channels ever.
Well the rest of the day was free and easy so we went down to Central for some shopping! Of course the best place to go in central is the gigantic 4 storey H&M so in we went and spent about 2 hours there. It was also pretty packed so while Shaofang and Yanni were hunting high and low for us Sarah and I were a bit more concerned with trying clothes on, haha. But we all found each other okay in the end :D Anyway we didn't really shop for that long because we were all pretty exhausted! Went to explore a dark little alleyway and came across a few interesting shops, including one not unlike that House of Japan shop at Haji lane only this one was a lot more interesting, more clothes and cleaner than House of Japan appears to be, haha. Yanni bought a couple of things (after like half an hour or something) so the 3 of us took photos to pass the time!
In Sarah and Shaofang's room, waiting for Shaofang to primp her hair or bomb or whatever she was doing, heh.
Headed back to Northpoint and had dinner at a little eatery next to our hotel! We were so exhausted and the place was admittedly very cosy- had wanton mee (which was SOOO GOOD) and milk tea, which was to become our staple drink over the next few days.
Camped out at Miss Lim's room until quite late and played UNO and stuff and Shaofang was being evil and making everyone draw 4 and halfway when Mr Tan came in to use the internet she was all MR TAN! Want to play UNO?? We can make you draw 4!!! Predictably he did not join in... Haha.
Anyway the next day was our full free shopping day! Had breakfast near our hotel before heading down to Mongkok with Ms Lim! Okay no photos here because our hands were too full to take photos what with the huge number of people thronging Ladies' Street... we literally spent the whole day there and I swear Yanni is the best person to have around cos she's so fierce and professional when dealing with pushy storekeepers, like the freaky lady Sarah and I met!! I gave her a price and then realised that what I wanted to get was totally not worth it and she also kept pushing this bag at Sarah even though she didn't say she wanted to get it. In the end we were just like WE'LL COME BACK LATER and ran off and obviously we didn't lah. Haha. Spent the whole afternoon there it was actually really interesting and stuff! Apparently we missed Sneaker street though which was a pity. Had Japanese for dinner after Ms Lim left and then went to find Temple street night market where we got gifts for the teachers and Mr Leong! (but not for cheong tjong hung. Duh.) And also, something REALLY CUTE for Ms Lim omg I love what we got for her, hehe.
And on the last day... we went shopping at city gate. It was full of factory outlet stores! And I really wanted to get a clutch for prom and I found this interesting (but hideous) one at Folli Follie and everyone said it was hideous and at last I saw the light and realised that it indeed was hideous. Phew. And there was a cute one from Kate Spade but it was still too much to pay though cos it was really simple! So I'm glad I didn't get a clutch in the end (got a bag though woohoo) andddd well after that it was back to Singapore.
Oh gosh I realise I really do miss waking up in the hotel room, calling each other room to room to ask whether the rest're ready to go off yet and moaning and griping about what to wear and how I had a negative amount of HKD left (that was sad... stupid H & M's fault lah) and dreading getting onto the tour bus because I dunno what it was, the smell or the way the bus driver drove made me feel carsick immediately (and usually I dont get carsick), milk tea, bo lo baos, instant noodles, lovely weather (bad polluted air though), chilling out in the room with Shaofang Yanni and Sarah, bitching about Cheong Tjong Hung with the twins huimin and rachel, comparing our buys at the end of the day... all in all, I MISS HK!!!! :( Hwee you should've come you'd have loved it! Shaofang was so entertaining esp when she was squabbling with Mr tan, HAHA. Gosh my very first school trip! I'm glad all of us and especially the seniors bonded so much even though everyone was evil about Tommy (who suddenly took on the name tommy cheong tjong hung on fb don't ask me why) and the whole symphony thing grrrr. Haha but I love all of yall so much :D Like sf would say what would it be like without shaofang! And of course each and everyone else :)
